Group and Private Tours

The Ellwood House Museum in DeKalb, Illinois invites you to experience this beautifully preserved National Historic Landmark through a memorable group tour. Whether you're part of a park district, senior group, corporate team, travel club, or educational organization, we welcome groups of all kinds for a unique and enriching visit.

Groups of ten or more are required to schedule their visit in advance and pay a per-person tour fee. Each group tour includes a guided experience inside either the historic Ellwood Mansion or Ellcourt, along with self-guided access to the museum’s scenic gardens and estate grounds. These tours offer a meaningful look into the region’s history and the legacy of the Ellwood family.

For those looking to enhance their visit, the museum’s Hearthside Room, is available to rent for an additional fee. This charming event space is ideal for hosting group lunches, meetings, or presentations in a comfortable and historic setting.

Groups of fifteen or more should be prepared to divide into smaller sections for the indoor tours, ensuring a relaxed and enjoyable experience for all participants. Private tours of the museum buildings can be arranged as schedules allow and are available only during weekdays. These tours are given by the Director of the museum and are limited to groups of eight. A private tour lasts approximately 90 minutes and requires a reservation fee of $500.
