Brown Bag Lunch: 2025 Ellwood House Exhibit Preview

  • Ellwood House Museum 420 Linden Place DeKalb, IL, 60115 United States (map)

The Ellwood House Museum Visitor Center houses four free galleries with historic objects, artwork, and local history that connects to national themes. Each year, staff work to bring ideas and objects to life through new exhibitions. Hear from Ellwood House Museum Exhibit Coordinator, Anna-Marie Zurlinden, for a peek into this year’s newly installed and upcoming exhibits. The presentation will discuss the exhibits' background and development, some considerations for putting objects on display, and the particulars of when and where to view them.

Opening later this year, The Ellwood Eclectic presents original architectural blueprints of the mansion and selected structures, including both accepted and rejected designs. Visitors can view historical photographs and plans showing how the estate has changed over time, as well as examples of architectural salvage from the property. The exhibition will also include information and documentation from the ongoing restoration project, offering a detailed look at the work being done to preserve the building.
