 Hearthside Room

Located in the Visitor Center, the Hearthside Room is the perfect space for your baby shower, birthday party, small wedding reception, business meeting or corporate retreat.

The room accommodates up to 80 people seated at tables for a luncheon or dinner with room for a buffet or head table. More than 100 people can be seated in rows for a lecture program or wedding ceremony.

Rental includes the use of our tables, chairs, podium and room set-up. Linens and table service are not included. Events may be catered or a full-service kitchen is available for your use. Alcoholic beverages may only be supplied and served by DeKalb Park District staff. The total room dimension is 1326 square feet.

Rentals will be billed a minimum of two hours. 

• $50.00 an hour for parties during regular operating hours*
  

• $40.00 an hour for corporate meetings during regular operating hours*
  

• Rentals outside our normal operating hours are an additional $25.00 an hour

*Our regular operating hours are Monday through Friday from 9 - 5 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 12 - 5 PM.

Example rentals and rates: 

A typical party that begins after 5 PM and lasts for 7 hours (including decorating, caterer set-up and removal) will cost $525.00.

A four hour rental for a baby shower during our operating hours will cost $200.00.

Mansion

We do not rent rooms within the historic mansion for private events.

Garden Weddings

The Ellwood House gardens may be reserved for wedding ceremonies prior to 12 noon or after 5:00 PM. Rentals do not include chairs. There are no facilities for wedding party dressing on site.

• The fee for a garden wedding is $200.00. The garden may also be reserved for a wedding rehearsal for an additional $50.00. Reserving the Visitor Center's Hearthside Room for a ceremony back-up location in the event of bad weather costs an additional $150.00.

• The Hearthside Room in the Visitor Center is available to host your small wedding reception. Please see prices in the left column under Hearthside Room.
